Description
1.2311 Steel Plate (410 × 160 mm)
Link: 1-2311-steel-plate-410x160
1.2311 Steel Plate (410 × 160 mm) is a high-quality pre-hardened plastic mould steel manufactured for precision tooling and mould-making applications. This premium grade is widely used in the production of plastic injection moulds due to its excellent toughness, wear resistance, and superior machining performance.
The material is supplied in a pre-hardened condition (28–34 HRC), allowing manufacturers to machine the steel directly without requiring additional heat treatment. This significantly reduces production time while minimizing the possibility of distortion or cracking during mould manufacturing.
As a medium-carbon alloy tool steel, DIN 1.2311 Steel Plate provides excellent dimensional stability, uniform hardness, and outstanding polishing characteristics. These properties make it an ideal choice for medium and large moulds where durability and surface finish are important.

Heat Treatment
Forging
Heat the steel slowly to 930–1050°C and maintain a uniform temperature throughout the material. After forging, allow the material to cool gradually to achieve optimum structural stability.
Annealing
Heat to 775–790°C, hold for sufficient soaking time, and cool slowly inside the furnace to improve machinability and relieve internal stresses.
Quenching
Heat the steel to 820–840°C followed by oil quenching to obtain the desired hardness and mechanical properties.
Tempering
Temper the material between 100°C and 600°C, depending on the required hardness and application. Hold at the selected temperature for adequate time before cooling in still air to achieve the best combination of toughness and wear resistance.
