Product Description
D2 Tool Steel (DIN 1.2379 | X153CrMo12 | SKD11) is a premium-grade high carbon, high chromium cold work tool steel engineered for applications requiring exceptional wear resistance, high compressive strength, and superior dimensional stability. It is widely used in the manufacture of precision dies, punches, cutting tools, and industrial tooling where long service life is essential.
Containing approximately 1.40–1.60% Carbon and 11–13% Chromium, D2 steel provides outstanding abrasion resistance and excellent hardenability. After proper heat treatment, the material can achieve a hardness of 60–63 HRC, making it suitable for demanding cold work applications.
The addition of Molybdenum and Vanadium improves toughness, wear resistance, and resistance to softening under heavy operating conditions. Compared with conventional Cr12MoV Steel, D2 offers better tool life, improved wear performance, and greater dimensional stability during continuous production.
